Mansukh Mandaviya To Conduct Virtual Meet On Covid-19 With State Health Ministers Today

The Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will conduct a virtual meeting at 3 pm today with State health ministers on the Covid-19 situation and preparedness, as per the media reports.

Previously, on Thursday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi have chaired a high-level meeting for reviewing the status and preparedness of public health against impending COVID-19. He emphasised the requirement for consolidating surveillance with a focus on genome sequencing and increased testing.

This meeting comes against background of surge in COVID-19 cases in some countries, as per the Prime Minister's Office. PM Modi Assessing the COVID-19 situation in the country constitute preparedness of health infrastructure and logistics along with status of the vaccination campaign in the country. Moreover, the emergence of new Covid-19 variants and their public health implications were also evaluated.

Chief Ministers from the respective states too have or are conducting high-level meetings with the Senior Officials regarding the preparedness for Covid19. On Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal assured the common people regarding the government's preparedness. Although, he conveyed that XBB variant cases are being reported in Delhi.

Countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are undergoing an alarming surge in Covid cases. The new Omicron sub-variant BF.7, which has also been detected in four Indian states, is allegedly responsible for this, according to health ministry data.

India reported four cases of the BF.7 Omicron sub-variant in the last six months. Moreover, there are currently 10 different variants of Covid-19 in the country, with the latest being BF.7, the media reports revealed.
