Mandaviya To Hold Meeting With State Health Ministers Amid Covid-19 Situation

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday will hold a virtual meeting with state health ministers amid fresh Covid-19 concerns. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday headed a high-level meeting to examine the status and preparedness of public health response to Covid-19 and stressed the requirement for strengthened supervision with a focus on genome sequencing and increased testing.

This high-level review meeting comes amid a rise in Covid-19 cases in some nations.

Over the last two days, chief ministers of many states have conducted high-level meetings with senior officials to take stock of preparedness against Covid-19 in their states.

A fresh wave of Covid cases in China, Japan, South Korea, France and the United States due to Omicron sub-variant BF.7. This variant has also been witnessed in four Indian states, according to health ministry data.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal assured that government is prepared and said that there is no need to worry as the city does not have a single case of the Covid-19 Omicron sub-variant BF.7.

He added that the health department is completing genome sequencing of all the positive cases which are being reported in the city.

Kejriwal urged people to take the precautionary doses of the vaccine as only 24 per cent of the people in Delhi have taken them till date.
