Maharashtra To Install Two Lakh Agri-solar Pumps: Fadnavis

The target is set to be achieved with the help of the Maharashtra Energy Development Authority (MEDA) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL)

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra announced that the government is soon going to launch 200,000 agricultural solar pumps around the state. 

The target is set to be achieved with the help of the Maharashtra Energy Development Authority (MEDA), and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL). 

Both departments are going to manufacture one lakh solar pumps each, according to Fadnavis. 

He further stated that under the KUSUM scheme (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahaabhiyan) all the mandated aid will be provided to the manufacturers. Fadnavis also heads the charge of the energy department. 

Subsequent steps are also taken for the modification of solar energy to benefit the farmers, he added. 

Maharastra government has also ratified the wind energy proposal at Uran near Mumbai. 

However, no official data has been defined by the state government on how many solar pumps have been updated till now.
