Lucknow is all set to get a world class, hi-tech convention centre that will enable the state capital to host mega events in the city. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed a presentation made for the construction of a Convention cum Exhibition centre in the state capital and gave necessary instructions to the officials.

The presentation was made by the department of Housing and Urban Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh. According to the presentation, the Convention cum Exhibition Centre would be built in Lucknow in an area spread across 50 to 55 acres. The area surrounding the Awadh Shilpgram has been found suitable for this, given the good accessibility to other significant parts of the capital, the presence of land, future requirements, etc. The purpose of the centre is to organise events of national and international significance.

According to the instructions of the Chief Minister, the convention center would be constructed in Public-Private Partnership mode. Co-operation of reputed experienced institutions or companies would be taken at national-international level. The CM instructed that a detailed action plan should be presented by the Housing Development Council as soon as possible after completing all the necessary preparations along with feasibility study, technical report etc.

The CM further instructed that the convention center should be made multipurpose. The conference centre should be designed such that important cultural, political, state, religious, and musical events can be held there with grandeur and dignity. The Exhibition Center should be able to host all types of fairs and exhibitions. He further said that Indian culture should be reflected in the architecture of the Lucknow Convention Center building. It should be an example of water and energy conservation. It should be made energy efficient through solar energy. Additionally, efforts should be made towards developing quality hotels nearby.

Giving prominence to the One District One Product (ODOP) Scheme, the CM also stated that there should be a display of ODOP items from Uttar Pradesh at the centre. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the department.
