The deadlines for the implementation of the trace and track (T and T) system on liquors and beers in Rajasthan have been extended by the excise department. This comes in the wake of operational issues being faced in the state.

The deadline for Bottled in India (BII) brands and bottled-in origin (BIO) or imported liquor has been revised to September 15 to produce liquor with QR-coded hologram under the new system.

The sale of country liquor, Rajasthan-made liquor (RML), Indian-made foreign Corporation Ltd and Rajasthan State Ganganagar Sugar Mills (RSGSM) depots can be extended to the end of August. The beer without T and T in the stock can be sold till September 15 and BII and BIO stock till September 30th.

“Sale of liquors and beer with hologram in Rajasthan will be from November 1,” reads the order by Kumar Pal Gautam, Excise Commissioner.

Previously, the liquor traders complained of a lot of time waste in the release of stocks to liquor vendors due to the barcode scanning facilities at RSBCL depots not being upgraded. The launch of the new system has enabled the manufacturers to generate printed barcodes with unique serial numbers and batch number information, manufacturing, and expiry dates. Additionally, to know the exact number of bottles being produced, the installation of bottle readers have also been undertaken.
