Linda Yaccarino, former Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBC Universal, is set to assume the role of CEO at Twitter on Monday, according to reports.
Yaccarino's appointment comes as Elon Musk shifts his focus towards his other ventures, namely Tesla and SpaceX.
Yaccarino, who oversaw a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees at NBC Universal, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the advertising and media industry. Under her leadership, her team successfully generated over USD 100 billion in ad sales and forged significant partnerships with prominent companies such as Apple, Snapchat, BuzzFeed, Twitter, and YouTube.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Yaccarino has wasted no time in assembling a team at Twitter. Notably, she has brought on board Joe Benarroch, an executive vice-president at NBC Universal and a trusted advisor to Yaccarino. In a memo seen by the WSJ, Benarroch expressed his eagerness to embark on this new professional journey, emphasizing his dedication to Twitter's business operations.
Yaccarino's vision for Twitter is evident from her recent social media interactions. Last month, she expressed her enthusiasm for working alongside Elon Musk and millions of Twitter users to build "Twitter 2.0" and transform the platform.
Elon Musk himself has welcomed Yaccarino's appointment, expressing his anticipation of working with her to transform Twitter into an all-encompassing platform, similar to China's popular WeChat application. Musk's aspiration for Twitter to become an "everything app" highlights his ambition to push the boundaries of what the platform can offer.
