Let Circular Economy Prevail For Positive Change

The experts also talked about how the ongoing situation on the world stage can affect the regular supply chain and how prices of raw materials have increased in the market

As ongoing issues like war, climate change threatens living, a circular economy can definitely bring together a set of practices, prioritised as per their impact, intended to optimise the utilisation of materials and energy. To recall, according to the Brundtland Commission, "A circular economy is a system of production, exchange and sharing enabling social progress, the preservation of natural capital and economic development."

Speaking on 'Circular Economy: From Concept to Practice' at 'BW Sustainability World 2022', eminent speakers like Apoorva Bose, Communications Expert, UN Environment Programme; Arun Krishnamurthy, Founder Environmentalist Foundation of India; Shalini Goyal Bhalla, Managing Director, International Council for Circular Economy and Arupendra Nath Mullick, Area Convenor, TERI Council for Business Sustainability, talked about circular economy and how model utilises resources and on creating positive value loops. The event was moderated by Miniya Chatterjee, CEO, Sustain Labs Paris.

The speakers also emphasised the ways by which waste can be pulled back to the raw material. They talked about how several resources can bring benefits to the Indian economy.
