After the success of its low-cost K3 Note smartphone, Lenovo has released the K4 Note in New Delhi on Tuesday (05 January).

Seeing the leap that virtual reality or VR is about to take in this new year, the Chinese tech giant has introduced on its new phone a technology it calls TheaterMax, which it claims can convert any multimedia content to become immersive and give a cinematic experience when viewed through a VR headset. Lenovo claims the Vibe K4 Note is the world’s first smartphone to be launched with the such technology.

"Lenovo TheaterMax, powered by Lenovo VR, sets us apart with our commitment to design cutting-edge smartphones that meet the needs of consumers at an extremely friendly price-point,” said Mr. Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphones, Lenovo Group. TheaterMax, claims Lenovo, allows a user to do more than just viewing media from a smartphone screen. As long as one can don a pair of Lenovo VR glasses. TheaterMax’s offer is that of widescreen cinematics with vivid colors and immersive sound.

Lenovo also claims that without the need for a library of games and apps, TheaterMax turns all existing media and games into an immersive large screen experience boasting smooth graphics, life-like surround sound and responsive 3D gameplay.

The K4 Note features a vibrant 5.5” Full HD display with a 178o wide viewing angle and 1080p clarity, together with color optimization and high-contrast technologies to further enhance the quality of the visuals. The smartphone also comes with an advanced sound input and recording capabilities, according to Lenovo. This is meant to encourage the creation of digital content. The K4 Note features twin front ported stereo speakers enabled by Dolby Atmos to minimize noise and voice distortion when playing voice clips and songs. This is combnined with a 13MP PDAF rear camera and a 5MP fixed-focused selfie camera.

The K4 Note has a 3,300mAh battery, 64-bit MediaTek octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM and storage of up to 144GB (16GB internal) with USB-OTG support. It supports LTE and security features including fingerprint and NFC sensors.

The Lenovo K4 Note’s registrations for its first flash sale on January 19, 2015 will be starting today at 3PM. Pricing for the model starts at Rs 11,999. The headset brings the price up to Rs 12,499.
