Kumar Mangalam Birla, Mulayam Singh Yadav, SM Krishna Get Padma Awards

For the year 2023, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 106 Padma Awards including 3 duo cases (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one). The list comprises 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri Awards. Nine of the awardees are women and there are seven posthumous awardees.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sudha Murty, Mulayam Singh Yadav, late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Raveena Tandon are the few among them. 

PM Modi took to Twitter and wrote, "Congratulations to those who have been conferred the Padma Awards. India cherishes their rich and varied contributions to the nation and their efforts to enhance our growth trajectory."

The highest civilian award for this year includes 91 Padma Shri, 6 Padma Vibhushan and 9 Padma Bhushan for excellence in various disciplines compromising seven individuals to be awarded posthumously, two NRIs and 19 women.

Indian politician (late) Mulayam Singh Yadav and medical pioneer Dilip Mahalanabis, are among Padma Vibhushan Awardees. Along with tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and former UPA minister SM Krishna.

An official statement also confirmed no one has been named for Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. 

This year the country is also going to felicitate several unsung heroes for their unflinching dedication to society. 

Among them is Ratan Chandra Kar, a Retired government doctor based in Andaman for his notable work for the Jarawa tribe in the Nicobar Islands and Naga social worker Ramkuiwangbe Newme for protecting and promoting Heraka indigenous culture.
