The Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to approve projects worth Rs one lakh crore in the state.

"We mostly talked about the national highway construction. There is currently work being done on projects worth about 46,830 crore, but there is still work to be done on projects costing more than one lakh crore. It has been decided to expedite certain initiatives," said Bommai.

He also said the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project is coming up at the Bannerghatta Reserved Forest.

The state government does not want the project to travel through the Bannerghatta Reserved Forest since it is an eco-sensitive zone (ESZ), thus the chief minister requested that the wildlife committee offer an alternate route.

According to Bommai, Gadkari also consented to allocate USD 1 billion for the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and Railway Under Bridge (RUB).

These ROB and RUBs, according to the chief minister, are necessary for Ballari, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi.
