Kalpavriksha - the Second Largest Stainless Steel Art Installation of India by Vibhor Sogani

NEW DELHI, January 31, 2018/PRNewswire/ -- 'Kalpavriksha - the wish fulfilling tree', a stainless steel installation by International Award-winning artist and designer Vibhor Sogani, was recently completed, becoming the largest public art installation in the state of Gujarat and the second-largest in India.

Given his diverse interests, he engaged in a wide range of creative projects in the areas of exhibition, graphic, retail and product design, for top global brands. Famous for India's largest and most visible public art installations, the 'Sprouts', a 40 ft. high stainless steel installation spread over 6 acres of greens surrounding the AIIMS flyover in the heart of Delhi, Vibhor Sogani's creations are recognised globally.

In October 2016, his solo exhibition titled 'Mahatma in Me', a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, travelled to Australia to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. In August 2017, the exhibition was invited to Zimbabwe to mark the celebration of 70 years of India's independence and beginning of the Indian festival 'India in the Sunshine City'. The exhibition travelled to Tanzania in December 2017 and the works were displayed in the National Museum. Recipient of many honours, Vibhor Sogani has been awarded 'Indian Art Icon of the Year 2014' in Singapore and has been nominated by the Government as a member of Governing Council of the India Design Council.

Sogani's 'Kalpavriksha' takes its name from Hindu mythology and stands for a wish fulfilling tree. The 35 ft. high installation stands in the centre of a 100 ft. roundabout, in the upcoming residential development Arvind Group's Uplands, Ahmedabad. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, the installation is an abstraction of a tree, blending into the serene, flowing greens around it. Crafted from mirror- finished steel balls, the dynamism and versatility of the Kalpavriksha contributes to the manifestation of the whole roundabout as a point of visual focus for the community.

Embracing the nature of life and constancy of change, the installation transforms itself with the changes in the environment: on a bright, sunny day, the installation sparkles, and appears soft and diffused when the sky is overcast. In the evenings, an amber glow on the inside and a cold white glow on the outside adds another element of drama to it. As a result of its mirror-finish and high reflectivity, it stands out beautifully at night. Owing to its public nature, the installation offers an engaging experience to get different perspectives from the masses - from a child to an adult, from a local to a tourist.
