Jet Airways CEO Sanjiv Kapoor took to Twitter to set the record straight regarding recent reports claiming that 60 per cent of the company's staff, including senior management employees, had been sent on leave without pay for three months.

Kapoor clarified that only about 10 per cent of the staff will be temporarily placed on leave without pay, and no staff will be laid off. He also mentioned that two-thirds of the employees have not been impacted at all by the recent changes, while the other one-third will see a temporary reduction in salary.

Clarifying himself, he said that these are the hardworking people who have worked even when the company went bankrupt.

Nevertheless, some temporary hard decisions had to be taken due to the ownership transfer timeline slipping, factors that are outside the company's control, he added.

He further defended the airline’s promoters including Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC) stating that they are renewing the airline expending fresh capital to provide consumers with more choices and to create more jobs and get back old jobs.

Kapoor gave the statement after a report circulated which stated that Jet Airways is yet to resume operations under its new owner. Salaries for several staff will be reduced, some will be sent on leave without pay.

A section of Jet’s total workforce constituting around 250 employees will be sent on pay cut by up to 50 per cent, while some will be posted on leave without pay until further notice from 1 December, anonymous sources reported.
