Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida landed in Kyiv on Tuesday for a surprise visit, according to Japan's NHK.
Kishida was seen walking on the platform of a train station, escorted by a few individuals who looked to be Ukrainian officials, according to footage from the national broadcaster.
His visit coincides with a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian officials in Moscow, where he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to a summit in Beijing later this year.
