International Yoga Day 2019: Theme Of The Year

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21 to raise global awareness about the benefits of the ancient Indian practice. It comes with a different theme every year.
This year, it is on climate change. Yoga is an ancient art that keeps your mind, body and soul in peace. While performing yoga during 5th International Yoga day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said “yoga is above everything, as he performed various asanas with around 40,000 enthusiasts at the Prabhat Tara ground here to mark the fifth International Day of Yoga.
He further added, "We should make efforts to take yoga from cities to villages and tribal areas. Yoga is above religion, caste, colour, gender and region, it is above everything.”
Theme Of The International
The theme for 5th International Yoga Day is ‘Climate Action’. There is a two day celebration of Yoga Day at the United Nation in which there is session called “Yoga with Gurus” followed by a panel discussion on the chosen theme for the Yoga Day.
The Place
The biggest Yoga session held at Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi took active participation at Prabhat Tara ground. PM addressed the gathering while performing yoga, “Let our motto be - Yoga for peace, harmony and progress”. He chose Jharkhand for vary reasons, one is the natural beauty connects with Yoga making it a safe and peaceful place.
Yoga makes way to Switzerland
Indian Embassy in Berne conducted Yoga events in 12 cities across Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The Indian Mission played a significant facilitatory role in the event.
The program on 5th June at Saas Fee was dedicated to Swami Vivekanand, who was instrumental in introducing Indian Yoga and Vedanta philosophy to the western world.
Spreading Its Reach To Rural Areas
Kaimri is one of the developing gram panchayats in the district of Hisar state. Balapur is another village that recognises the importance of building Yoga in daily life of its people.
The villages have scheduled events observing the day. More than 100 villagers including students, residents as well as members of the panchayat are planning to hold a mass Yoga demonstration at a local school premises on celebration of Yoga. The villagers of Riwasa have decided among to join with their local ‘vyayamshala’ and do group demonstration of Yoga.
Yoga Session in New Delhi
Yoga celebration is held at Janpath and Bijwasan in which leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Smirit Rani took active participation. Newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla participated in an event on the premises of the Parliament House complex. It also offers a rich Yoga experience as it is home to many Yoga ashrams such as Patanjali Yog Peeth, Art of Living, Brahma Kumaris, Isha Yoga,Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Iyengar Ashram and Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram. Campaign such as ‘Leader Summer Camapign’ is being organised at Noida. Educational Institutions such as Delhi University are also actively participating in the celebration. Yoga celebration is held at Janpath and Bijwasan in which leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Smirit Rani took active participation.
All India Insitute of Ayurveda(AIIMS)
All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. They has selected the theme ‘Yoga for Cardiovascular Health’ as the focus of International Yoga Day 2019 observation . Various lectures on Cardiovascular (CVS) Health and Yoga sessions for CVS patients have been organized to spread awareness. The Institute is launching a pilot study on the effect of ‘Yogic practices on Hypertensive patients and their vital capacity’ on the same day
Session by Army officials
Yoga also spread its cover in the heart of army officials. Border Security Force's equestrian team performs Yoga on horsebacks at the BSF camp in Gurugram, Navy personnel in Submarine INS Sindhuvaj , army officials on the icy heights of Himalayan ranges, Indo-Tibetian Border Police personnel at an altitude of 18,000 feet performed yoga enthusiastically on the day.
