Indian Religious Places Earned Rs 1,34,543 Cr In 2022: Govt Data

Data released by the ministry of tourism stated that the places of religious tourism earned Rs 1,34,543 crore in 2022, and the digit of revenue increased from Rs 65,070 crore in 2021. The ministry of tourism does not maintain the revenue generated through the religious centre.
In 2018, the revenue was Rs 1,94,881 crore, followed by Rs 2,11,661 crore in 2019 and a significant dip due to the pandemic in 2020 to Rs 50,136 crore.
While the ministry of tourism does not maintain the revenue generated through religious centres, it does have an account of foreign exchange earnings.
The data mentioned that in 2022, the number of domestic tourists visiting the pilgrimage was 1,433 million while 6.64 million foreign tourists visited India. In 2021, the digit of Indian and foreign visitors were 677 million and 1.05 million respectively.
