After the spectacular appearances by Bollywood beauties like Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor on the red carpet, India further stole the show when the trailer of the movie 'The Black Prince' launched.

The movie starring famous Punjabi singer, Satinder Sartaj, and the veteran actress Shabana Azmi is a period drama and biopic of Maharaja Duleep Singh that traces the untold story of his life and his relationship with Queen Victoria, the Godmother to his children.

Maharaja Duleep Singh, also known as The Black Prince of Perthshire, was the last heir of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the only son of Maharani Jindan. The movie portrays various account of the king's life - when he lost his father and came to power at the age of five, his separation from his mother and exilement to England, and how Britishers fraudulently took the Kohinoor diamond, which is now displayed in the Tower of London.

Maharaja Duleep Singh's letters to Maharani Jindan were hijacked and he met her only once before her death.

His continuous efforts to return to India and get his kingdom back were thrashed by British government. Maharaja Duleep Singh died in a hotel in Paris in 1893 at the age of 55. Even his wish for his body to be returned to India was not honored.

The movie has been written and directed by Hollywood filmmaker Kavi Raz and produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, the same team behind the academy award winning film '12 years a slave'.

The movie has already been selected for several film festivals like Cinequest, Houston World Fest, Bentonville Film Festival, London Independent film festival and International Film Festival of South Asia. The team received critical acclaim for their work in the movie.

The film will release on July 21 worldwide in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
