India’s Reports 3,06,064 New COVID-19 Cases, Vaccination Coverage Exceeds 162.26 Cr

The last 24 hours saw a total of 14,74,753 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 71.69 crore (71,69,95,333) cumulative tests.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and fear of Omicron variant, India reported a total of 3,06,064 new cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll has increased to 4,89,848 with 439 new fatalities, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.  

The ministry also said that India’s active caseload is presently at 22,49,335 which constitute 5.69 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

Talking about the vaccination, the ministry said that with the administration of 27,56,364 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 162.26 crore (1,62,26,07,516) through 1,75,24,670 sessions.

"A total of 2,43,495 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,68,04,145. India’s recovery rate stands at 93.07 per cent," it said.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 17.03 per cent and the daily positivity rate is at 20.75 per cent.

Over 162.73 crore (1,62,73,06,725) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through centre (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category.

"More than 13.83 crore (13,83,03,116) balance and unutilised COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," it said.
