India’s Annual Textile, Apparel Exports Up 41% To $44.4 Bn In FY 2022

While inaugurating the 68th India International Garment Fair (IIGF), MOS for Textiles Darshana Jardosh said that India is the second-largest textile and clothing exporter in the world

India’s annual textile and apparel exports stood at USD 44.4 billion in FY 2022 with an increase of 41 per cent compared to last year, the Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh on Tuesday said. 

While inaugurating the 68th India International Garment Fair (IIGF), she said that India is the second largest textile and clothing exporter in the world. 

She appealed to the apparel manufacturers and exporters to emphasise innovation and quality by matching the latest fashion trends and assured all sorts of support from the government for the development and expansion of the apparel industry.

Jardosh said, "The Centre is committed to establishing a modern, dynamic, integrated and world-class textile sector under the vision of the PM."

The minister said that in view of the huge potential of employment generation and foreign exchange earnings apparel and textile industry is the priority. 

Lalit Thukral, Chairman, International Garment Fair Association (IGFA) and President, Noida Apparel Export Cluster (NAEC) said each edition of IIGF attracts export business from India to around USD 200 million and this time we expect around USD 350 million and this trend is expected to be continued.

Thukral added that Noida is an important apparel hub from where the current annual apparel export is around Rs 40,000 crore which would be approximately Rs 60,000 crore in coming years.
