India-US Pact On Healthcare Cooperation Receives Cabinet's Approval

The activities to be carried out under the MoU include identifying energy-related issues and developing topics

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Biotechnology, the Government of the Republic of India (DBT) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), USA to contribute towards the development of new, improved and innovative biomedical tools and technologies to prevent and treat HIV, TB, Covid-19 and other emerging infectious and neglected diseases.   

“This Memorandum of Understanding will further strengthen relations between India and the USA within the framework of international scientific and technological cooperation in fields of mutual interest,” an official statement said.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will assist in enhancing the regulatory and policy framework for developing an efficient whole sales power market and enhancing grid reliability, according to the statement. The activities to be carried out under the MoU include identifying energy-related issues and developing topics and possible agendas for the exchange of information.

It also includes participating in seminars, visits and exchanges.

It provides for the development of programmes of mutual interests and where appropriate holds these programmes locally to enhance participation. It also includes that when practical and of mutual interest, providing speakers on energy issues and other personnel (management or technical).
