India To Resume E-visa Facility For UK Nationals

Doraiswami added that the act will come into effect shortly without any delay and will enable people from the UK to travel far more conveniently to India

The High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom Vikram K Doraiswami announced on Monday that India is set to resume the e-Visa facility for citizens of the UK travelling to the country.

This act has been formulated for the first time since the pandemic.

Doraiswami added that the act will come into effect shortly without any delay and will enable people from the UK to travel far more conveniently to India.

The Indian High Commission shared a video on a social network and informed that the High Commission of India in London has confirmed the e-Visa facility again for UK nationals who are travelling to India. System upgradation is under process and the visa website will be soon available to receive applications from people in the UK.

Earlier, the British High Commission to India informed on 25 November that Indian nationals continue to be the top nationality to be granted worker visas accounting for 39 per cent of the total visas issued.

India has also overtaken China as the largest nationality to have sponsored study visas in the UK-- 127,731 student main applicants were received by the respective authority till September 2022. 

This marked an increase of 273 per cent compared to 2019 (34,261), the high commission mentioned.
