India will be the third largest economy in the world well before 2030 and the second largest by 2050, Gautam Adani said on Saturday.

Speaking at the World Congress of Accountants in Mumbai, the Adani Group chairperson said that India is on track to become a USD 30 trillion economy by 2050.

Highlighting India’s swift economic growth, Adani said, "It took 58 years to get our first trillion dollars of GDP; 12 years to get the next trillion and just 5 years for 3rd trillion."

Adani added that India would start adding USD 1 trillion to its gross domestic product (GDP) every 12-18 months within the next decade.

He acknowledged the crisis for global leadership due to the intersection of Covid pandemic, the war between Russia and Ukraine, inflation, and climate change.

On Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in India this year, he said that India is expected to record a 15 per cent increase and USD 100 bn of FDI this fiscal.

Adani expressed confidence in the combination of solar and green power, coupled with green hydrogen, to open great opportunities for the future.
