Haryana Budget Allows MLAs To Spend Grant For Rural Development In Urban Areas

The Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar also announced renaming of the ‘Adarsh Nagar Evam Gram Yojana’ which would be supervised by the Director Panchayats

Haryana State Assembly unanimously passed the Budget for 2023-24, that was presented by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar last month. While presenting the budget, Khattar had also announced that now MLAs can spend an amount of Rs 2 crore being allocated under the ‘Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana’ for the development works in the urban areas as well.

Khattar presented Rs 1.83 lakh crore budget for his state on 23 February and announced several new initiatives for the welfare of the people of the state and laid major emphasis on social and agricultural sectors. 

Khattar also announced renaming of the scheme as ‘Adarsh Nagar Evam Gram Yojana’, for which the director (panchayat) will be the nodal officer for this. 

CM also added that earlier the MLAs used to spend the said grant in rural areas only but now this amount can be used for the development works in the urban areas as well.
