HCL Technologies: Big On Green Agenda

The USD 11.79 billion global technology company with a footprint across 52 counties, besides helping enterprises re–imagine their businesses through its transformative technology solutions and services, is also impacting the lives of millions with its CSR initiatives and green agenda

Thanks to high scores on parameters like 'trustworthy leadership' and 'CSR initiatives’, HCL Technologies has once again made it to the top 20 list of Most Respected Companies (MRC). It was ranked 16th in the last MRC list.

In FY2022, HCL Technologies logged a 13.6 per cent growth in its revenue at Rs 85,651 crore, Rs 16,900 crore in operating cash flow, a 60 per cent jump in $100 million-plus clients in the past three years and a 14 per cent YoY jump in new deal TCV at $8.3 billion. The company's total employee headcount also saw a big jump compared to FY2021 when it stood at 168,977. It's employee count reached 208,877 in FY22.

"Over the last three years, we have reached a momentous milestone of 10 per cent CAGR, representing $11.5 billion revenue, despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic," said C Vijayakumar, CEO & MD, HCL Technologies.

CSR & Green Agenda
HCL Technologies said in FY2022 it signed the Climate Pledge, a commitment to achieving net zero carbon emission by 2040, a whole 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. As part of this pledge, HCL said it will measure and transparently report progress against the goal. It said that based on the initiatives undertaken in FY2022, it created value and delivered long-lasting, sustainable impact for its stakeholders. “On this journey, our sub-target for 2030 has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to be aligned with the 1.5°C pathway,” said Vijaykumar.

Through HCL Foundation’s initiatives, the company said 3.7 million lives were impacted. HCL Foundation’s initiatives are spread across sector like education, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, skill development and livelihoods, environment, and disaster risk reduction, response and management. The company said 55 per cent of the beneficiaries of HCL Foundation’s projects were women.

HCL Technologies was featured in BW Businessworld’s Most Sustainable Companies listing as well. With a cumulative investment of more than Rs 900 crore, the foundation impacted lives across 22 states and three Union territories of India
