Gujarat has become the second highest seller state on the Government e-Marketplace Portal (GeM) portal, overtaking Uttar Pradesh. In fact, Maharashtra had the highest number of 1.73 lakh sellers on the government e-marketplace portal till last month, and on the second number 64,000 sellers were in UP.

Sagar Soni, in-charge of GeM's regional business in Gujarat, has thanked the vendors for this. He said in an event that the number of vendors from Gujarat on the board of GeM has crossed 74,000. Gujarat has overtaken Uttar Pradesh in the process and has become the state with the second largest number of sellers registered on the GeM portal.

He said that Gujarat has a GMV of Rs 11,400 crore. After UP's purchase of Rs 25,000 crore, Gujarat is the second largest state. Soni further said that all the state governments have signed MoUs with GeM and are on stage. However, not every state government is procuring every goods and service through the GeM platform, while some, such as Gujarat, are making 100 per cent of their purchases through this portal.

Soni further said that the Gujarat government has recently chosen the GeM portal to list the insurance company for its flagship health insurance scheme Mukhyamantri AMRUT (MA) by placing a service contract of Rs 1,120 crore on the platform.
