Green Hydrogen Gets Big Boost In K’taka As Cos Commit Rs 2.91 Lakh Cr

Seven companies including JSW Energy intends to set up their Green Hydrogen and derivatives units in Karnataka

Invest Karnataka Summit 2022 on Wednesday saw companies announce Rs 2.9 lakh crore worth investments in the space of Green Hydrogen and derivatives.

Leading the pack of seven companies who plan to set up units in the state of Karnataka was JSW Energy, which plans to establish a green hydrogen and green ammonia plant through an investment of Rs 40,148 crore.

International energy giant Petronas also acknowledged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Rs 31,200 crore investment for a 5,000 KTPA green ammonia plant in Karnataka. 

ReNew Power has announced one million tonne per annum green ammonia plant at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore. Meanwhile, Mumbai-headquartered Avaada Energy also said that it would invest Rs 45,000 crore for 1 NTPA green ammonia plant.

Gurugram-based Acme Solar too intends to set up an integrated facility in Karnataka to produce about 1.2 million tonne of green ammonia every year through an investment of more than Rs 51,000 crore.
