The government is making efforts to develop a national retail trade strategy for brick and mortar retail dealers in order to enhance ease of doing business, according to Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

He also said that the programme will aid in the provision of improved infrastructure and greater loans to businesses.

Sanjiv stated that the Department is working on developing an e-commerce policy for online shops. Furthermore, the Government is in the midst of developing an insurance plan for all retail dealers. He stated that the accident insurance system will benefit the country's small traders in particular.

Urging the industry to focus on producing high-quality products, the Joint Secretary stated that the government is attempting to implement policy changes not only in e-commerce but also in national retail trade policy, which will include introducing ease of doing business, better infrastructural facilities, more credit, and other benefits to traders.
