GST Council will hold its next meeting on 17 December 2002, through video conferencing, the council said in a tweet on Friday.

"The 48th Meeting of the GST Council will be held on 17 December 2022 by Video Conference," the tweet said.

Meanwhile, the Council’s 47th meeting was held on June 29, 2022, in Chandigarh. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is the Chairperson of the GST Council

After the last council meeting, there was a jump in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate for various items. GST on printing/writing or drawing ink, LED lamps, lights and fixtures was increased to 18 per cent from 12 per cent, the rate on tetra pack also went up to 18 per cent from 12 per cent and the rate on cut and polished diamonds to 1.5 per cent from 0.25 per cent.

The new rates were effective from July 18, 2022.

A group of Ministers headed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was to submit a report before the Council on issues related to casinos, race courses and online gaming based on the recommendations from states.

Hence, in the upcoming council meeting, the GST rate on casinos and online gaming are likely to be a topic of discussion.
