GST Cess Amendment: Here Is How Much Extra You Have To Pay To Buy Your Favourite Car

The Indian government’s decision to hike goods and services tax (GST) cess on mid-sized, luxury and sports utility vehicle (SUV) cars came as a big blow to the country’s automobile industry.

The GST Council on September 9 decided to hike cess on mid-sized cars by 2 per cent, taking the effective GST rate to 45 per cent.

Also, cess on large cars has been hiked by 5 per cent, taking the total GST incidence to 48 per cent while that of SUVs by 7 per cent to 50 per cent.

As a result of the decision, many automakers increased prices of their vehicles. The new prices came into effect from September 11, 2017.

The automaker has raised prices of its vehicles within a range of 2-5 per cent.

2. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India

3. Honda Cars India

This manufacturer of premium cars has raised price of its Honda City, Honda BR-V and Honda CR-V.

4. Toyota Kirloskar Motor
