Freecharge Partners With Coffee Chain To Facilitate Mobile Payments

FreeCharge will go live with its cashless payments integration on May 9 with its patented On-The-Go-Pin

Mobile payment platform Freecharge has announced its partnership with Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) to accept its e-wallet payment in 1,400-plus outlets in 187 cities.

FreeCharge will go live with its cashless payments integration on May 9 with its patented On-The-Go-Pin, which has been used previously with other QSR(Quick Service Restaurants) chains.

"At Freecharge, our endeavour is to influence the daily payment habits of consumers and offer an assortment of merchants to help them move away from cash. With CCD, we will expand Freecharge's digital payment ecosystem to include new users and expand our wallet reach to 187 cities," said Govind Rajan, chief operating officer.

Other wallet players have partnered with Cafe Coffee Day for offline payments. Paytm had announced its integration with the chain in May 2015, while MobiKwik had announced its partnership in March 2015.

Earlier this year FreeCharge partnered with McDonald's to enable offline payments using its wallet. A spokesperson said that FreeCharge has partnered with fifteen merchants to enable offline payments in the country. Freecharge has over 30 million registered users.

FreeCharge had recently appointed Fareed Jawad as the principal product architect and vice president for payments. He earlier served as principal product architect at Amazon India.
