Other e-commerce companies in India have also been on a drive to increase their warehousing capabilities. Just a few weeks back, Flipkart’s closest competitor Amazon had announced the opening of a fulfilment facility spread over 55,000 square feet with a little less than 1.5 lakh cubic feet of storage space, on the outskirts of Pune.

Flipkart’s new facility is expected to open up over 17,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the area.

Telangana’s finance minister, Etela Rajender, said, "This launch comes at a time when the e-commerce industry is at its peak in India” adding that he hoped that this would draw other such organisations to set up shop in the newbie state.
