Exchange With A Difference

An exchange programme has been started between the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business (GSB) in South Africa and the University of Hyderabad's Indian School of Business (ISB), to help students bridge cultural divides and learn about the dynamics of management.

The programme will enable students from each university to swap campuses for a semester and spend time at an international university to learn about management in two parts of the world. While students do not obtain credits for courses they take, they are given a certificate listing the courses attended.

"Businesses worldwide need management graduates who have the tools to succeed global leadership skills, cultural awareness, and foreign language proficiency, that are increasingly important in the globalised environment." says director of University of Cape Town GSB's Walter Baets. His mission as director is to improve relevance and innovative business thinking in an emerging market context.

The business schools, GSB and ISB are two of the six business schools from BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries that is accredited with EQUIS. UCT Graduate School of Business offers full-time MBA programme that is ranked among the top 10 by the prestigious Financial Times Global Top 100 MBAs. Participating students will be exempted from the educational fees at the concerned exchanged universities, but they would be responsible for their travel, accommodation and other costs.
