Despite Macroeconomic Challenges, I Remain Bullish On Long-term Prospects Of Indian IT Industry: Wipro’s Premji

Rishad Premji also lauded Karnataka for helping set the stage for journey of the IT Industry in India

Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji on Wednesday said he remains bullish about long-term prospects of Indian IT Industry despite current macroeconomic challenges.  

Speaking at the Global Investors Meet ‘Invest Karnataka 2022’, Premji said that his confidence in the Indian IT industry was driven by two things including the rapid pace of digitisation across the world and the shift in the mindset of stakeholders who engage with Indian as an industry (IT).

He said that there the mindset of the global community has shifted greatly. “Back in the day, people came to India for cost and they stayed for quality. Today, the conversation is all about finding and accessing the best talent to build new models for relevance in the digital economy,” Premji emphasised.

Lauding the state of Karnataka, Premji said that the state has helped set the stage for the journey for the IT industry of the country.

The Wipro scion said that the IT industry will work with the government to set up for the next 25 years to continue leadership in the space on the global stage even as the global spends on technology are all set to double in the upcoming years.

Premji’s keynote was observed by dignitaries present on the dais at the Summit including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal.
