Delhi-based Trader Bodies Write To Amit Shah To Improve Sarojini Market Conditions

Trader associations in Sarojini Nagar market, New Delhi, have requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to improve the infrastructure of roads and other related facilities for the upcoming G20 summit as the market remains a hotspot for both national and global tourists.

In a letter written to the Union Minister, three main trader associations have mentioned 18 points to be considered including the improvement of pedestrian paths, enhancement of parking facilities, installation of direction sign boards and encroachment done by the unapproved vendor and hawkers. 

The three traders' bodies namely, Sarojini Nagar Market Shopkeepers Association, Mini Market Sarojini Nagar Association and Babu Market Association have issued the letter. 

The letter also mentioned that to attract the market visitors the pedestrian paths needed to be reshaped, an immediate repairing is required. Along with this, there should be different sign boards installed indicating the toilets, parking, metro and bus stations and auto stand for the visitors. The traders have also called for the construction of dedicated multilevel parking.

Additionally, installation of CCTV cameras and a selfie point have been also mentioned in the letter. Removal of overhead cables and wiring them underground to sustain the beauty of the market and prevent creating problems for the market visitors shall also be considered, the letter read.
