Delhi Sells Over 1 Cr Liquor Bottles During New Year’s Week

December has recorded an average sale of 13.8 lakh liquor bottles helping the Delhi government to earn a revenue of Rs 560 crore in December 2022, the official data stated

Delhi marked its highest liquor sale in the last three years by selling over 1 crore liquor bottles worth Rs 218 crore during the New Year’s week. 

On the New Year's eve (31 December 2022), estimated liquor sale was recorded at 20.30 lakh bottles worth Rs 45.28 crore, as per data availed by PTI.

Nearly 14.7 lakh bottles were sold worth Rs 28.8 crore on 24 December. Around 1.1 crore bottles, mostly of whiskey, witnessed a high sale record from 24 to 31 December, a senior excise department officer shared. 

While, on 27 December, the national capital sold the least number of liquor bottles at around 11 lakh bottles, earning Rs 19.3 crore, the excise officer added.

In 2021, Delhi recorded the liquor sale of 12.52 lakh bottles, while in 2020, it was recorded at 12.95 lakh bottles. Meanwhile in 2019, 12.55 lakh bottles were sold.
