On Monday, the Delhi Police rebuffed reports about hackers demanding Rs 200 crore as a ransom from the AIIMS administration in return for giving it the key to the files encrypted by them.

The services in the emergency, outpatient, in-patient and laboratory wings for the sixth day have been managed manually since the ransomware attack on AIIMS.

Previously, an FIR was registered on the complaint of AIIMS for extortion and cyberterrorism. But the police officer delineated to the media that no ransom demand has been brought to our notice by the AIIMS authorities, contrary to what was quoted by certain sections of the media.

This cyberattack raised concerns that the data of tens of thousands of patients, including politicians and bureaucrats, had been compromised. On hospital computers, the internet services are blocked, an official added.

According to the sources, the four physical servers arranged for restoring e-hospital services had been prepared. Moreover, the e-hospital database of NIC and e-hospital’s application servers had been restored to a large extent. Of the 5,000 systems and 50 servers, 1,200 systems and 20 servers have been sanitised so far. This restoration operation will continue this week, an official told the media.
