The capital has reportedly registered its 8th Monkeypox case on Friday. As a Nigerian woman aged 30 years has tested positive for the virus in New Delhi, media sources have revealed.

The country now has 13 cases of the viral disease in total, and the woman has been admitted to LNJP Hospital, the sources said.

As per the sources, a person suspected to be infected with the Monkeypox virus has also been admitted to the government hospital run by the Kejriwal government.

A study conducted by the ICMR recently on the country’s first fatal case of monkeypox from Kerala highlighted the significance of maintaining a high index of suspicion to diagnose the viral disease in those presenting with atypical manifestations, and exanthematous fever with epidemiological linkage from endemic or outbreak countries. The ICMR study has been published pre-print and is yet to be peer reviewed.
