In a program, the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that within a year, the cost of electric vehicles will be equal to the cost of petrol cars. The Union Minister also emphasised that the Modi government is emphasising on producing ethanol from crop residues instead of petrol and diesel. Due to this, the rate of petrol and diesel will also come down in the coming time. The event was organised by a news channel on Friday.

He said, 'I am trying that within a year, the price of electric vehicles in the country should be equal to that of petrol vehicles. This will reduce the cost of fossil fuels, petrol, diesel etc. and we will be able to save foreign exchange. Currently, electric vehicles are expensive due to the cost of batteries. In the cost of the car, 35 to 40 per cent is spent on the battery itself.'

The Union Minister also said that the government is rapidly promoting green fuel. Gadkari said that waterways are a cheaper mode of transport than roads. Work is being done at a fast pace on this by the government.

Nitin Gadkari and his ministry are constantly working on improving the transport system and reducing the pollution level. Recently, Gadkari had made a big announcement to get rid of the problem of jam. He had said that if someone sends a picture of a wrongly parked vehicle on the road, he will be given a reward of Rs 500. The government is going to bring such a law soon.
