Conclave On GST & Impacts
S.K. Bhatt, Ex. Chairman, NIRC of ICAI, a very renowned expert on GST, elaborated to the audience about the basics of GST, its nitty-gritty and its impact on various stakeholders.

Going with the vision of GOI’s aggressive campaign on GST, District Administration, Patiala and The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (Patiala Chapter of Cost Accountants), took the initiative and jointly held a conclave in Mini Secretariat, Patiala on "GST & Impacts” with focus on Government Departments, Power Sector and society, with the farsighted approach of “Act Now”. The conclave was chaired by Sh. Kumar Amit, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala and was attended by ADC (G), ADC (D), SDMs, Patiala, Rajpura, Nabha, Samana, DEOs, Chief Financial Officers, Financial Advisors, Chief Engineers of PSPCL/PSTCL and other senior officers of District Administration, PSPCL, PSTCL and Patiala Chapter of Cost Accountants. More than 200 officers and officials attended the conclave.
While inaugrating the session, Sh. Kumar Amit, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala told that Punjab Government is fully focused on spreading the requisite awareness about GOI’s dream tax reform in the shape of GST. He stated that by organising such sessions, administration is also showing its commitment towards knowledge sharing, transparency and thereby making ease of doing business a reality. He told that with the active participation of Government, industry and professional bodies, the GST would really prove to be “Good & Simple Tax”. He emphasised on the fact that GST would bring more transparency, more compliance and more revenues to the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the key note speaker, CMA S.K. Bhatt, Ex. Chairman, NIRC of ICAI, a very renowned expert on GST, elaborated to the audience about the basics of GST, its nitty-gritty and its impact on various stakeholders. He explained the concepts of GST in simple language and also gave solutions for various practical issues. He told that the impact of GST will be unprecedented and will transform India into a single unified marketplace. GST will subsume the plethora of taxes at the central and state levels. This alone will add 2% to the GDP, propelling the country into double-digit GDP growth.
Speaking on the event, Sh. Showkat Ahmad Parray, IAS, ADC (Development), said, “At Government level, we are focused on spreading timely and right awareness among our officers and industry. The instant information sharing platform had been much able to enhance the awareness & confidence of the officers and they were able to learn various practical aspects of GST. There was an enormous take away in the form of knowledge uplifting from the GST conclave. Many realistic queries on GST were deliberated and resolved in the Conclave.”
Speaking on the joint venture, CMA Ashwani Singla, Chairman, Patiala Chapter of Cost Accountants said, “ICAI-PCCA hails the implementation of the Goods & Services Tax as the most progressive and far reaching tax reform measure, ever undertaken by the Govt of India. GST is going to prove itself to be a major step towards doing business in an easy way and making the nation more tax compliant. This would ultimately result in reduction of prices for the consumers. It would definitely make the industry more competitive and competent too.
