Coal Production Up To February Comes To 785.24 Mt In FY2022-23

In the year 2021-2022, coal production was 778.19 million tonnes as compared to 716.08 mt during the same period of last year with a growth of about 8.67 per cent

All-India coal production increased to 785.24 million tonnes up to February in the financial year 2022-23. Production rose by 15.14 per cent compared to about 681.98 mt during the same period of FY.

This information was given by Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.

In the year 2021-2022, coal production was 778.19 million tonnes as compared to 716.08 mt during the same period of last year with a growth of about 8.67 per cent.

India would be able to fulfil the domestic coal requirement of 821 mt of Domestic Coal Based (DCB) plants projected by the Ministry of Power during 2023-2024, according to the press statement. 

Apart from domestic coal production, India imported approx 209 mt in the financial year 2021-22 of which 72.50 mt was imported from Indonesia. India also bought 66.76 mt and 26.11 mt of coal from Australia and South Africa respectively.
