Chrome Has The Most Vulnerabilities Amongst All Browsers: Report

A total of 303 vulnerabilities have been found in the browser to date this year

New data suggests that Google Chrome has the greatest number of vulnerabilities amongst all popular browsers in 2022. The world’s most used browser is ahead of Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft in vulnerability count. 

According to fresh data, Google Chrome has the most number of vulnerabilities. A total of 303 vulnerabilities have been found in the browser to date this year.

The browser is also an all-time leader with a total of 3,159 cumulative vulnerabilities.

Google Chrome is also the only browser on the list that already has newly discovered vulnerabilities in October. Some of the most recent Google Chrome vulnerabilities include CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307. 

Recently, the Indian nodal agency for computer security Cert-In too had published a vulnerability note highlighting the vulnerabilities in Google Chrome. It had given these vulnerabilities a severity rating of ‘HIGH’. 

Mozilla Firefox is the browser with second most number of vulnerabilities (117 vulnerabilities), followed by Microsoft Edge, with 103 vulnerabilities discovered YTD. 

Meanwhile, Atlas VPN team data says that Apple’s Safari browser has had some of the lowest vulnerability numbers in years. The browser recently reached over one billion users which made it the second most popular browser in the world, had 26 documented vulnerabilities in the first three quarters of 2022. Its cumulative vulnerability number stands at 1,139.

Interestingly, Opera had no documented vulnerabilities this year despite being built on the Chromium engine.
