Chhattisgarh Attracts New Investments In Oil, Electronics Sectors

HPCL and Millennium Infratech sign MOU with Chhattisgarh for setting up storage in Janjgir Champa and LED factory in Electronics Cluster, Naya Raipur

The Government of Chhattisgarh signed an MoU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for setting up a petroleum, oil and lubricant (POL) depot in the state.

The proposed investment in the plant will be Rs 324 crore.

Another MoU for setting up of LED lights manufacturing plant in Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, Naya Raipur, with an investment of Rs 12 crore by Millenium Infratech was also signed during the event.

The proposed POL depot is to be established near Naya Baradwar Railway Station in Janjgir-Champa district. The project is to be set up on 115 acres of land which includes requirement for railway sliding as well.

Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) has already allotted land measuring about 100 acres to HPCL and another 15 acre land for the project is to be allotted within weeks. This depot will ensure fuel availability in the northern part of the state.

The LED plant of Millennium Infratech will be set up in Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, Naya Raipur. About 1 acre land to Millennium Infratech has already been allotted to the company by CSIDC in their EMC in Naya Raipur. Both new projects will generate direct employment of around 150 people.

M.K. Surana, CMD; S Jeyakrishnan, director marketing, Anil Pande (ED O&D); Ajit Singh (ED- LPG); Alok Kumar Gupta (GM-East Zone); AK Gupta (DGM- O&D); PN Kant (DGM- LPG) and other senior officials from HPCL were present for the MoU signing ceremony.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Dr Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Chhagan Lal Mundra, Chairman, CSIDC; Vivek Dhand, Chief Secretary, Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to HCM, Kartikeya Goel and Shri Sunil Mishra, Managing Director, CSIDC and other senior officials of Department of Industries.

Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Mining and PWD, signed the MoU on behalf of the Chhattisgarh Government while Anil Pandey, ED (Operations, Distribution & Engineering) signed the MoU on behalf of HPCL and Narinjan Jindal, Director, signed the MOU on behalf of Millennium Infratech.

M.K. Surana, CMD of HPCL made a detailed presentation about HPCL's presence in Chhattisgarh and proposed POL depot project in Janjgir Champa.

He said that HPCL's experience of working in Chhattisgarh had been excellent and they would like to increase their spread in Chhattisgarh. This proposed project is one of their planned investments in the State. He also said that soon HPCL would establish an LPG bottling plant in the State. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and his team for accelerated progress in land allotment for the proposed project.

The Chief Minister in his address said that Chhattisgarh is one of the few states which believes in beating their own timelines for setting up new projects.

He said that he would like to get the project started in 18 months instead of 24 months of proposed timelines for the project. He reiterated his commitment of providing best in class facility and easy process for setting up the project in the State.

He also said that he was happy that local young entrepreneurs are coming forward to venture into sectors like electronics which has huge scope for innovation. He congratulated Jindal for his new venture in the State.
