Centre Allows Indian Carriers To Wet Lease Wide Body Planes For Up To 1 Year

Earlier, wet leasing of wide-body planes was permitted only for up to six months

The Civil Aviation Ministry On Sunday announced that they have relaxed the foundations and airways now are allowed to take wide-body planes on wet lease for up to one year in a manner to ease the efforts to make the country a pivotal worldwide hub for air visitors. 

Earlier, wet leasing of wide-body planes was permitted only for up to six months.

IndiGo worded that it has communicated to the civil ministry regarding the approval to authorise the Indian carriers to wet lease planes for a gap of six months which shall be extended by one other six months.

The airline further mentioned that it is engaged in finalising the contract at the moment.

Aviation regulator DGCA allowed IndiGo to wet lease wide-body Boeing planes from Turkish Airlines for the span of six months in October.

Indian airways that look for function planes on wet lease to the US and Europe can be authorised to move further with the association for up to one year now under the lease license.

The statement further informed that with the application of extra wide-body planes operated by Indian carriers, the nation will be ready to transport additional passengers and finally that may help the country to transform into a worldwide hub for air visitors.
