COVID-19: Weekend Curfew Likely To Be Imposed In Delhi

DDMA organised a meeting to review the current Covid-19 situation and rapidly increasing Omicron cases.

Amid the sudden spike in the daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to impose a weekend curfew.

According to the sources the step can come after the Coronavirus positivity rate in the national capital jumped over 5 per cent for a day. DDMA organised a meeting to review the current Covid-19 situation and rapidly increasing Omicron cases.

A night curfew under GRAP alert Yellow is already in force in Delhi. Also, Delhi reported 382 omicron cases on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and isolated himself at home.

"I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms. Have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch wid (with) me in last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested," Kejriwal tweeted.

The chief minister urged people who came in contact with him in the last few days to quarantine and get tested.

Apart from that, Bharatiya Janata Party MP from North East Delhi and former state unit chief Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday said he tested positive for COVID-19 and has isolated himself at home.

"I have been feeling unwell since the night of January 2. I could not go for poll campaigning in Rudrapur in Uttarakhand due to mild fever and cold. Have tested positive today. As a precaution, I have isolated myself yesterday (Monday) only. Please take care of you and your families, Tiwari said in a tweet in Hindi on Tuesday.
