A study on Tuesday revealed that nearly 40 per cent of organisations are losing control over their IT and security environments.

The Cloudflare-commissioned study conducted by Forrester Research underlined the top four factors that are contributing to the overall loss of control - an increase in the number of applications (66 per cent), the rise in locations for applications (62 per cent), the shift from on-premises to the cloud (54 per cent) and the changed remote/hybrid workforces (49 per cent).

The study found that 30 per cent of teams observed that managing and securing both public cloud environments and data in the SaaS ecosystem, is significantly more complex today than before.

It added 96 per cent of organisations believe that today’s businesses would gain value from a connectivity cloud that provides secure, performant, “any-to-any” connectivity (connectivity between more people, apps, data, devices, networks, and clouds).

The Cloudflare report stressed that nearly half of respondents found this type of solution would accelerate digital transformation while reducing attack surface area.

Additionally, the study reflected the view of 58 per cent of leaders that thought this solution would increase productivity, while 54 per cent recognised it for improving time to market and 54 per cent businesses saw it in support of the overall revenue growth.
