Biplab Kumar Deb Wins By-Election Of Rajya Sabha MP In Tripura

In the by-election, Biplab Kumar Deb defeated CPM candidate and former Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha by 28 votes

Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been elected Rajya Sabha MP. A by-election was held for a Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura on Thursday, in which he won.

In the by-election, Biplab Kumar Deb defeated CPM candidate and former Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha by 28 votes. The former CM of Tripura got 43 votes while the CPM candidate Saha had to be satisfied with only 15 votes.

Significantly, this seat was vacant after the resignation of Dr Manik Saha. He was made the Chief Minister of Tripura in place of Biplab Deb. After the victory, Biplab Kumar Deb via tweet has thanked the BJP and IPFT MLAs of Tripura for electing hin as a Rajya Sabha MP.

Many BJP leaders have congratulated Biplab Kumar Deb on being elected as Rajya Sabha member from Tripura. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted, 'Many congratulations to former Chief Minister and Haryana BJP in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb ji on being elected Rajya Sabha member from Tripura. Under your energetic leadership, the voice of Tripura and its citizens will definitely be raised in the Upper House.'
