Backend Developers Find Themselves In Big Demand

A research by Belong team over the last six months found that there is a rise in demand for backend developer across industries which consists of 1 lakh candidates in the talent pool. The report also highlights that the majority of this pool has between 2-5 years of work experience.

The Backend Developer is responsible for developing and evolving the business applications using the latest software development infrastructure and methods. They also develop analytics of any arising solutions in the software where they also develop and maintains automated tests.

Rishabh Kaul, Co-founder, Belong said “Backend development is tasked with providing technological infrastructure and server-side development that allows apps to scale to a particular user base as and when needed. For instance, with the Diwali sales around the corner, there will be a massive surge of users logging in online not only to make purchases but also save money by availing the huge discounts on offer. Similarly, during sporting events, demand on apps sporadically increases. To ensure that apps are scalable, and tech doesn’t crash, back-end infrastructure and deployment is critical. This clearly shows the importance of back-end developers in today’s hyper-competitive business environment."

The role of the Backend Developer is a highly collaborative they work with frontend developers, data scientists, system engineers, and other technical experts in developing and implementing solutions. They also work very closely with the frontend developers in building and ensuring synchrony in the development of the sites and software.

Talking about geographical insights, Hyderabad and Pune have more Backend Developers in comparison to NCR, and a majority of the talent pool is employed by the ITES sector

Average job tenure: Backend developers rarely stay in a job for more than 2-3 years

Compensation: Backend developer in the product space with 0-2 years of experience: 8- 12 lakhs per annum; while more than 15 years of experience can fetch a pay package of more than 50 lakhs per annum. 

Backend developer in the internet space with 0-2 years of experience can get a compensation of 15- 20 lakhs per annum; while those with 15+ years of experience can get 65+ lakhs per annum.
