Axiscades Is Embedding Profits And Upgrading Potential - Arun Krishnamurthi, MD AXISCADES Technologies
The promise of Industry 4.0 is an industrial revolution that will employ information from the virtual world to drive intelligent action in the real world. From 3D printing to robots, it is ushering in a whole new era of innovation that can only trickle down to the end-users when the OEMs get it right. And for the OEMs to get it right, they need digital enablers that prioritize agility and flexibility and come with a range of end-to-end solutions in digital transformation.

Arun Krishnamurthi, CEO & MD of AXISCADES Technologies Ltd, one of the world’s leading digital enablers with marquee clients and strong credentials said, “The cost of research and development continues to grow, both for the infrastructure and the information systems required to enable that network-centred interface. OEMs are looking for companies with a 360-degree-expertise across the engineering, research and development sector that are backed with a long track record of domain/product knowledge and satisfactory operations for value addition.”
With well-diversified revenue streams and geographic reach, AXISCADES, which started operating in 1990, has more than three decades of experience in the ER&D industry. Aerospace, Defence and Homeland Security, Heavy Engineering, Automotive & Industrial Products, Energy and Medical & Healthcare, are the six domains in which AXISCADES operates. The company is also swiftly pivoting its business towards Embedded & Digital solutions with futuristic technologies like AI, ML and DL playing a big part in its endeavours and strategies.
This digital transformation has been integrated in all of its verticals - from flight control systems that assure a safe journey to in-flight entertainment that promises an interesting one, from the mission computers and RADAR simulators for the nation’s defence requirements to smart meters that monitor energy usage of appliances. It is also a crucial element for automobiles; a key vertical to the company to enhance existing features and bring new ones to the table.
According to SAP's analysis, there are nine pillars that make up a smart and autonomous system in Industry 4.0: Big Data and AI analytics, horizontal and vertical integration, cloud computing, augmented reality, Industrial Internet of Things, 3D printing, autonomous robots, digital twins, and cybersecurity. While each of these technologies has its own benefits, their full potential is actually realised when they are used together.
Providing his insights on the benefits of a smart system Mr. Krishnamurthi adds, “We want our clients to be successful in the areas where they compete and technology plays a significant role in differentiating their products or services from their competitors. For instance, modern vehicles are all about providing a superior passenger experience. To do that you need to bring better features to the table, from sunroof, sensors, and navigation to diagnostics, safety and infotainment. In fact, the magic of self-driving cars rests in the capabilities of IoT. We are already developing autonomous vehicle infrastructure on pilot cases for the overseas markets and with the adoption of 5G in India, which is already at Level 2 ADAS, a partial autonomy could be triggered. This will require the utilisation of a plethora of different technologies. At AXISCADES all the emerging technologies are easily accessible under one roof.”
Despite experiencing operational disruptions due to Covid 19, the company delivered strong EPS growth in FY 22 thanks to the resolution of supply chain issues, improved operational efficiencies and better working capital management. In Q1FY23, the company's revenue increased by 63.5 per cent Y-o-Y, with the strategic technology solutions vertical posting a staggering 394.2 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
A healthy order book, strong pipeline, and positive industry indicators augur well for the organisation which is pioneering as a thought leader in digital innovations and productivity improvements by reducing its dependence on any one vertical and focusing on product lifecycle management which is critical across all industries.
The business is in the process of onboarding a new client in the defence industry as well as one of the largest energy tier 1 service providers in the world. It has built an offshore development centre in Bangalore for a global leader in the integrated EPC domain and is working on autonomous vehicle technologies for a heavy engineering client.
Commenting on the financial performance Mr. Krishnamurthi said, “We serve a diversified portfolio of clients who are the market leaders in their industries. We are a strategic partner to Top 3 of 10 OEMs in commercial aircraft with increased traction in aerospace clients from Europe. We have also been the preferred partners for defence offsets contracts which are further propelled by the government’s push for defence modernization. What differentiates us is the clients we work with and the trust they have in us, companies like Airbus that have been transformational leaders in their own sectors are associated with us. Our goal is to grow the wallet share of our most valuable customers while simultaneously expanding our client base. The acquisition of Mistral Solution is nearing completion and it puts us in a position poised for outstanding growth. Mistral Solutions is a leading player in embedded electronics, system engineering and product design, which will further strengthen our embedded software capabilities on a global scale and support our goal of being a digital-first company.”
