Assam Signs MoU With Maharashtra To Promote Film Tourism

During the MoU signing, the state of Assam through a video presentation showcased the northeastern state’s most iconic destinations and highlighted its familiarity with showcasing single-window clearances for shooting movies

To promote Assam as a film tourism-friendly state, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister of Tourism signed an MoU between Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation on Monday in Mumbai.

The event gave a formidable overview of tourism in the state of Assam through a video presentation showcasing the northeastern state’s most iconic destinations, highlighting its familiarity with showcasing single-window clearances for shooting movies.

Inaugurating the event Jayanta said, we are putting in great efforts to promote film tourism in the state making our Assamese land, tourism-friendly for filmmaking by facilitating shooting permissions for film projects and providing necessary support to attract filmmakers. 

He further emphasised Assam’s, excellent road infrastructure and peaceful conditions and underlined its richness in spirituality, wildlife, river and adventurous tourism.

He urged tourists to visit Assam for a promising lifetime experience.

Asserting the minister, Kumar Padmapani Bora, IRS, Secretary, Tourism and Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation said, “Assam has recorded a 511 per cent and 763 per cent growth in domestic and foreign tourists’ inflow in 2022 in comparison to 2021 with reference to the data as on 23rd, January 2023.”

He stressed that the state’s new tourism policy concentrates on film tourism and has been given to EoDB.

Our aim is to promote Assam as the ultimate Film Tourism destination in consultation with the film fraternity and tourism stakeholders, Bora added.

The event also provided an opportunity to discuss issues relating to sustainable development and natural resources conservation in Assam and was witnessed by many eminent from Assam’s Tourism and film and entertainment Industries.
