Assam Govt: Ex-Servicemen, Widows Spared From Paying From Property Tax

The amendment bill for Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969 and Assam Municipal Act, 1956 have considered to exempt ex-servicemen/widows from paying service bills, as a token of gratitude to ex-servicemen of the country

The amendment bill for Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969 and Assam Municipal Act, 1956 have considered to exempt ex-servicemen/widows from paying service bills, as a token of gratitude to ex-servicemen of the country.

The Assam Cabinet has come up with the decision that Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) And ADIC Ltd will sign an MoU to create a venture capital worth Rs 200 crore.

It requires the permission for collaboration between Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) under SIDBI and Government of Assam in order to issue additional guarantee coverage for loans that are provided by lending institutions to micro and small industries in Assam. Moreover  a corpus fund of Rs 100 crore -80 per cent from CGTMSE and 20 percent from Assam government will be created. 

Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) has approved to sign the MoU with SIDBI. The cabinet has agreed upon the Assam State Data Policy, 2022 to revamp the data access, data use and to secure efficient services. It will establish a data driven governance and policy making.

To create an ecosystem, to increase the growth of the renewable energy power sector, the government has given approval for Assam Renewable Energy (RE). It targets to install an aggregate RE of 1200 MW in five years. The government in the 2022-23 budget announced Mukhyamantri Souro Shakti Prokolpo to install 1,000MW. 

It also agreed for the Vehicle Scrappage Police of Assam 2022 to look after the dismantling and scrapping of operations of end of life vehicles.

The cabinet is also encouraging the recycling of vehicle scrap in an eco-friendly way and is also in an attempt to reduce vehicle pollution by implementing  the policy of Registration and Functions of Vehicles Scrapping Facility. 

The government also launched One Time Settlement scheme for a limited amount of time 

State Government to also launch a One Time Settlement scheme for a specified time period under which owners are given tax waivers on their outstanding/arrear dues (if any) when they offer their vehicles to RVSF voluntarily.

In order to ensure proper remuneration for elected members, the cabinet decided to increase the remuneration of Chairpersons, Vice-chairpersons, and elected commissioners of Municipal Boards by Rs 5,000.
