Russia's former president and an ally of President Vladimir Putin remarked that the West's continued supply of arms to Kyiv risked a global nuclear catastrophe, reiterating a threat of nuclear war over Ukraine, according to a media report on Monday.

According to reports, Dmitry Medvedev's apocalyptic rhetoric has been seen as an attempt to deter the US-led NATO military alliance and Kyiv's Western allies. Thus, getting more involved in the year-old war dealing with Moscow’s setbacks on the battlefield.

Earlier last week, Putin issued a nuclear warning and confronted Moscow with the West in an existential battle for the survival of Russia and the Russian people.

Following this notification, Medvedev’s said, "The pumping in of weapons will continue and prevent any possibility of reviving negotiations."

He said, our enemies are just continuing the war without understanding it’s leading towards total fiasco.

He added that it is a loss for everyone, a collapse, an apocalypse, wherein your former life is forgotten until the rubble ceases to emit radiation.

Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, dismissed Medvedev's comments as "inflammatory rhetoric."
